Sita Vai Levu, age 47, a resident of Beaverton, OR, also a graduate of Watonka High School, The Dalles, OR. She passed away April 22, 2024. She was born March 25, 1977 to Sitae Levu and Lagi Levu. Sita was survived by siblings: Noli Tuia, Shalo Tunai, (Art) George Crichton (Annette), Sina Ah Sam (Tim), Ruta Angel (Adam), Oli Levu Tuanaitau (Josh) and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents and her sister Carolyn Levu.

Patsy Louise Richerson, beloved wife, beautiful mother and loving grandmother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who loved her the most; on April 8, 2024, at the age of 71.
Patsy is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Paul Richerson, children Stephanie Hoover, Melissa Richerson Jones and Paul Richerson II; grandchildren Skyler Turner, Nichole McCrea, Lacey Jones, Alyssa Turner, Bridget Jones, Wyatt Jones, Paul Richerson III, and Sadi Richerson and Great Grandchildren Madison Stover, Colton and Lincoln Hagan; all of whom she loved very deeply and made each grand feel like they were the “special one”. Patsy is predeceased by her, Mother Vera Lester, Brother Billy Mullin, sister Janice Pruitt, and grandson Jesse James Franklin Turner.
Patsy was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on February 7, 1953, to “Cotton” and Vera Pruitt. Patsy attended school in Chelan WA, where she met a new boy, Paul Wayne Richerson. It was love at first sight, and the two married on November 28, 1969, at the age of 16.
Patsy fell right into her new role as a devoted wife and mother. In 1986, Patsy decided to return to the work force, and worked at Underwood Fruit for many years as a seasonal fruit packer. Patsy was very artistic and creative, and opened her own ceramic shop in White Salmon, WA in the early 1990’s.
Patsy was an avid gardener, enjoyed planting flowers, tending to her amazing wisteria, and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Patsy loved to play cards and games, go to her favorite spot at the beach, watch the birds, and would hit up the casino, often winning money on her $20.
Patsy’s family honored her wishes, took her on one last coastal trip where a private ceremony was held. She will forever be able to enjoy the Punch Bowl in Depoe Bay.
Patsy will be deeply missed by those who love her, her family, friends and all who knew her.
Edward LeRoy Clay, age 92, a resident of Rufus, OR, passed away April 21, 2024. A Graveside Service will be held April 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Grass Valley Cemetery in Grass Valley, OR. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
Susan Marie Duarte was born July 3, 1963, in The Dalles, Oregon to Frank and Dorothea Duarte, she passed away April 15, 2024. She graduated from Centennial High School, where her family lived for a few years to be closer to her stepdad’s work. She then attended Mt. Hood Community College. She has one daughter, Alyssa Duarte of Redmond, Oregon and granddaughter, Harper.
Susie worked in various places in The Dalles, though worked many years for Mid-Columbia Medical Center in various departments until she received a medical retirement in 2013.
Susie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she held many callings over the years. Some hobbies she loved to do were camping, gardening, watching and rooting for the Seattle Seahawks, and spending time with her family.
Susie is survived by daughter; Alyssa Duarte, granddaughter; Harper Darnielle, siblings; Larry Duarte (Janet), Lucinda Garrigus, Gary Duarte (Kelly), Frank Duarte (Jerri), Jeff Duarte (Joann), Cynthia Fridye (Robert), Jessica Duarte, along with many loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She is preceded in death by father; Frank Duarte, mother; Dorothea Lewis, stepfather; Harry Lewis, siblings; Priscilla Duarte, Barbara Duarte, and Dennis Duarte.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home. The Funeral Service is Wednesday, April 24, 2024, 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with a viewing starting at 9:00 am. Following the Funeral Service the Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Marion Douglas Lindley
August 4, 1945 – April 3, 2024
Doug was welcomed into Heaven on April 3rd after a long heroic fight with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was born in Memphis, Tenn. on August 4, 1945, the third of nine children born to John and Bessie Lindley. He had seven sisters which doted on him Donna, Linda, Joan, Joyce, Karen, Gale, Sheila and one brother Gary. He grew up in rural Arkansas until his teenage years when the family moved to Azusa, California for his sister Donna’s schooling. California was full of old cars and that is when he fell in love with Hot Rods. He would drag them into his parents yard to fix, trade, buy and sell. Doug became a father when his daughter Cynthia was born.
Doug moved to The Dalles, Oregon in his early 30’s and worked at Buntings Exhaust and Alignment. He met the love of his life Kathy Smith in 1977 and they begin their lives together welcoming their two sons John Douglas and Steven Jacob. He loved fishing, hunting, boating and restoring old cars with his boys. His family meant everything to him.
In 1994 Doug’s Affordable Muffler was created, Doug loved working with the community of The Dalles and made every interaction count, as he was a bright light to many. He was instrumental in getting drag racing started in Dallesport and was always inviting fellow car lovers to The Dalles to join in the festivities. He loved working on his Hot Rods, he spent many nights and weekends getting ready for Neon nights, drag racing and participating in car shows around the Pacific Northwest.
Survivors: Spouse- Kathy Lindley: Children -John Douglas Lindley, Steven Jacob Lindley and Cynthia Villalpando spouse Mark and family: Grandchildren-Rebecca Lindley, Roxanne Lindley, and Dedrick Bloomdahl. Remington Lindley: and the many other special people in his life.

Harold E. Rolen, (Gene), 95, passed away at The Dalles Adventist Hospital on March 9, 2024.
Gene was born on February 17, 1929, in Parks, Nebraska, to Vera (Knepper) Rolen and Robert DeLee Rolen. Gene spent his early childhood in Parks, then moved multiple times with the family, as his father sought better work opportunities. In their pre-teen summers, Gene and his older brother, Bob, usually worked alongside their father earning up to 10 cents a day. During these years they also honed their hunting and fishing skills. In 1940 the family arrived in Oregon, first settling in Bend, then moving to Vanport where all four members of the family worked as welders in the shipyards.
In 1946, Gene graduated from Jefferson High School, Portland, Oregon. After graduation he worked on the Hanford Atomic plant and McNary dam. In October of 1950 Gene was drafted into the army. After basic training at Camp Polk, Louisiana, he finished training in Japan and then was sent to Korea, where he was a corporal in the 45th Division, 180th Regiment, Company F. His superior officer noticed Gene’s skill with guns, assigning him to the armory as a stock clerk, where he took care of the weapons for the whole Company. On September 4, 1952, Gene was discharged from the Army. He returned to Oregon and carpenter work on the dams on the Columbia and Snake Rivers.
Falling in love with Etta and one year old Melinda, Gene married Etta M. Hopkins on March 4, 1954, adopting Melinda in November of the same year. They moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon, where Gene used the GI bill to attend the Oregon Technical Institute, attaining a Gunsmith certificate. Their sons, Richard and Roger were born in Klamath Falls. Returning to the work on the dams, they lived in Pasco and Sunnyside, Washington. In 1960 the family moved to The Dalles. When his sons reached Little League age, Gene volunteered as their baseball coach. He attended every football game, wrestling match and baseball game, in addition to teaching all three kids to hunt and fish.
In the 1early 1980’s Gene went to Saudi Arabia to build desalinization plants, and then to Venezuela for work on the Onaoco dam project. Upon his return home, Gene purchased property with Don Anderson, on the Kenai Peninsula and took yearly trips to Alaska to fish for salmon and halibut. His last elk hunt was just last November.
Gene is survived by his children, Melinda Beyers of Gladstone, OR, Richard and Patty Rolen, of The Dalles, and Roger and Denise Rolen of Oregon City, grandchildren Ron and Annie Hammond Beyers, Ben and Sarah Beyers, Ryan Rolen, Tony and Stephanie Rolen, Andy and Desi Rolen, and Morgan and John Fetzer, and seven great-grandchildren, Atticus and René Hammond Beyers, Basil and Benson Beyers, Rivington and Riley Etta Rolen, Nora Rolen, and Brooks and Easton Fetzer; and by his brother, Bob Rolen of The Dalles, four nephews and nieces, Rob and Margaret Rolen, Susan and Jack Pincock, and Cindy and David Gardipee, and their nine children and fourteen great nieces and nephews.
The funeral service is Saturday, April 13 at 11:00 am at Libby, Spencer and Powell Funeral home, with graveside service to follow at IOOF Three Mile (Parklawn) Cemetery. A reception will be 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Bargeway Pub.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oregon Hunters Association or The Dalles Little League Association.
