Robert Anthony Wojtecki

Bob was born in Chicago, IL to Paul and Rose Wojtecki. Bob attended St Mary of Perpetual Help Catholic School and graduated from there. He joined the Air Force straight out of high school and was sent to basic training at Lackland Air Base in San Antonio, TX. He then was stationed at Portland Air Base as a jet mechanic. He met and married Bobbie Anderson while stationed there. They began their family in Portland where both of their children were born. In 1969 they returned to Bob’s hometown of Chicago where he worked as a freight dock hand and lived there for 11 years. In 1980 they returned to Oregon and made The Dalles their new home. Bob started working for Bernert Barge Lines but it did not take long for him to realize that was not the job for him and moved to the Martin Marietta Goldendale Aluminum Plant. When the plant closed down he then moved on to work for Sprint and worked there until his retirement at age 62.

He was proud of the many community activities he participated in. In Chicago he served on the School Board for Sacred Heart Catholic School, including a time serving as the President. He assisted as a coach for Little League. He was a self appointed leader of the neighborhood "Sandlot Rec League" activities (hockey, baseball, football, etc.). Bobbie often had kids coming to the door wanting to know if Bob could come out and play.  In The Dalles he coached 13 year old Babe Ruth baseball. Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as President for a time. He was a self-appointed sidewalk snow-thrower of his short street where he would make sure all his neighbors' sidewalks were cleaned off. He led adult catechesis and faith classes. He was instituted as an Acolyte for the Diocese of Baker serving for many years with Fr. Charles and Fr. Levine. He took pride in assisting at daily and funeral masses. A loving and devoted Husband of 58 years, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. This was noted most by the variety of hobbies he took up over the years to spend time with his family; fishing, bicycling, woodworking, and cheerleading (from the bleacher - no handsprings).

He is survived by his wife Bobbie Wojtecki and their children Jamie Bailey and Robert A Wojtecki II (Rob). Jamie’s husband Kevin Bailey and their four children Katelyn Bailey, Jace Bailey, McKenna Bailey, and Delaney Bailey. Rob’s two children Cayleena Shelton and Peyton Goodman.
